In addition to L3 routing, each product supports L2 functions including virtual LANS (VLANS), traffic prioritization/QoS, IPv4/IPv6 support, and bandwidth aggregation, latest networking protocols for redundancy, security, multicast, and management. Every router has been especially hardened to improve ingress, impact, and shock/vibration protection including passive cooling, which completely eliminates moving parts. All units in this line are fully managed, military-grade switches and routers with L2/L3 capabilities. You can configure and monitor them remotely through Web UI, CLI, Telnet, and SNMP, with HTTPS and SSH available on the TSN models. This lets you set up VLANs, QoS, port security, and link aggregation without physical access to the unit.
There are two main mechanical formats. Some units are 19-inch rack-mount chassis (1U or 2U) intended for shipboard and shelter installations, and others are low-profile, conduction-cooled boxes with circular connectors for mounting directly on vehicles or in tight spaces. All are passively cooled with no moving parts, so there are no fans to service or fail.
The line supports copper Ethernet (10/100/1000 and 10G), fiber optic ports (1G and 10G, single-mode or multi-mode), and on some units serial RS232 and timing I/O. Connectors are ruggedized circular types such as D38999 and Amphenol SCE2, and several models let you choose the port count, fiber type, and connector style through an ordering code. If you need a configuration not shown, the sales team can advise on available options.
On the Cisco-integrated models the router license is selected at order time and sets the routing throughput, with options such as 25Mbps, 200Mbps, and 1Gbps tiers shown in the ordering tables. The base part number without a license ship with the standard OS and no Cisco routing enabled.
Yes. Many rugged router models support Gigabit Ethernet, 10G Fiber, and copper interfaces to handle large volumes of real-time voice, video, and sensor data. These high-speed capabilities are ideal for modern military communication systems and data-intensive defense applications.
Units run on nominal 24VDC or 28VDC with wide input ranges (roughly 18 to 48V or higher depending on the model) and include MIL-STD-1275/704 surge and spike protection. Several models also offer an AC power version (90 to 230VAC) and some support a redundant power connection for added survivability. Check the specific model's power section, since the input range and consumption vary across the line.
